Gaute Ormåsen

Gaute Ormåsen took part in Norway's first Idol programme in 2003. He took an honourable 2nd place just behind Kurt Nilsen. Shortly afterwards, he released the album «New Kid in Town», which sold 30,000 copies and contained the hit singles «Chasing Rainbows» and «Miss you when you`re gone».

In 2005, he signed a deal with the record company Tylden & Co and decided to switch to singing in Norwegian.

For his first Norwegian-language album «G for Gaute» (2006), he created what has since become a modern Norwegian classic, ”Kjærlighet er mer enn forelskelse”. In 2008, he released the album «Drømmesang», from which we got songs like «Du + jeg= vi» and «Til vi ses igjen». The Grand Prix song ”Synk eller Svøm” is from the album «Oss i mellom» (2010). The single «Hei, sommer» (2012) has become a favourite summer hit. In 2013, he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest again. This time with the English song «Awake». It stayed in P4's top 30 list for many months.

In 2015 he released Fedrelandet with the rap duo Robin & Bugge. The song went gold.

At the end of 2016, he released a remix of Kjærlighet er mer enn forelskelse (Love is more than infatuation), the remix was on the vg list for several weeks, and has been streamed almost 8 million times on spotify.

Gaute has started to produce music himself, both for himself and others, most recently his own single Oslo sover aldri¨ which was released in May 2017. He has also written and produced children's songs for the organisation Forut. The songs are well known in over 1000 kindergartens in Norway.

Gaute has performed numerous concerts, ranging from Christmas tours and rehearsal tours to tours with his own material.
