15 things to keep in mind when organising an event

No two events are the same, but below we've put together a small checklist of many of the most common points to keep in mind when planning an event.
1. Choice of venue for the event
Will you be holding the event at your own premises, at a hotel or in another venue?
2. Catering supplier
Which supplier should you choose to provide good food for the event? If you choose to stay at a hotel, this point will not need to be considered.
3. Menu selection
What is the menu for the day/evening?
4. Find the right entertainment
Do you want a comedian to host the event? Perhaps some musical performances as well?
5. Sound, light, stage
Has a technical supplier been contacted to clarify the need for hired entertainment?
6. Itinerary
What should happen during the event day? When should it happen? And who is responsible for making it happen?
7. Project manager
Who is responsible for ensuring that the event runs according to the schedule? Who picks up the artists before they go on stage and who communicates with the maître d' about when the food will be delivered to the guests?
8. Contracts
9. Invitations and registration form
10. Artist/comedian - Travel, accommodation + food and drink backstage
11. Security and hother personnel
12. Flowers/table decorations, place cards, red carpet and torches, table, chair, tablecloth and tableware
13. Photographer
14. Press wall
15. Inspection
